Baseline patient satisfaction survey in 266 clinics located in three health districts of the Eastern Cape: Amathole, OR Tambo and Chris Hani 2008 (EC-PSS 2008)

The Eastern Cape Department of Health commissioned the HSRC for a patient satisfaction survey (PSS) to assess patient perceptions, expectations and satisfaction. The aim was to conduct a PSS in three health districts. This was conducted as a descriptive study, and the clinic sample was purposive. A survey was utilised as an instruments to identify issues for quality improvement initiatives.

The data set contains 19401 cases with 96 variables.

Early Childhood Development Forums - Save the Children South Africa Wentworth ECD Centre Audit (ECDF) 2011 - KwaZulu-Natal

The data set contains the responses of the 21 ECD centres that participated in the 2014 Audit and includes 867 variables.

Early Childhood Development Programming in the City of Johannesburg: From measurement to action (ECDP) 2014

The data set contains the responses of the 381 ECD centres included in the City of Johannesburg (COJ) 2014 Audit. The study targeted all ECD centres in 17 wards identified as a priority by CoJ.

GPS coordinates, ECD centre name, interviewee and staff names, the landline telephone number, cellphone number, fax number and email address of the ECD centre, as well as the website address and physical address and names of towns/villages were removed from the data for anonymization purposes.

ELL 2007: Employment and Learning pathways of Learnership participants in the NSDS phase II (ELL): All provinces in South Africa

The data set consists of information on persons who registered for a learnership qualification and who enrolled in the first year of the National Skills Development Strategy (NSDS) Phase II.

A total number of 6 815 valid surveys were returned. This represents a total return rate of 85.2%.

HIV/AIDS Educators study (ELRC) 2005: Student educator data - All provinces in South Africa

The objective of this study was to collect information about demand and supply of educators based in public educational institutions and FET colleges in South Africa. This data set has 919 records and 326 variables addressing the impact of HIV/AIDS on student educators in South African. It contains the biographic data, study subjects responsibilities, work load, impact of HIV on student educators, absenteeism, morale and job satisfaction, training and support, substance use, violence within schools, sexual behaviour, male condom accessibility, HIV/AIDS knowledge, communication about HIV/AIDS, risk perception, Voluntary Counselling and Testing (VCT), tuberculosis, health service utilisation, HIV status.

The data contains 326 variables and 919 cases.

The evaluation of peer education in Western Cape schools (EPEP): A longitudinal study 2013 - Time 0

The purpose of this data collection was to measure change in attitudes, knowledge and behaviour of Grade 8 and Grade 9 learners on a set of pre-identified indicators in relation to peer education and HIV/AIDS. This is the first data set obtained from three phases of collections which were analysed to explore whether peer education in our sample of schools had achieved the set objectives. It contains 286 variables and 2951 cases. The following topics were covered throughout the three sets of data collection: respondent's demographic data, respondent's school data, exposure to Peer Education, future orientation, sensation seeking and risk taking behaviour, drug and alcohol use, sexual efficacy, sexual experience, HIV/AIDS knowledge, HIV/AIDS attitudes, HIV/AIDS behaviours and intentions, decision making, healthy and unhealthy relationships and gender and social support.

The Evaluation of the Expanded Public Works Programme II (EPWP II) 2009-2014 in KwaZulu-Natal

This data set contains the responses from 476 participants regarding household demographic information, poverty perceptions, household income and expenditure patterns, food and nutrition security, asset status of the household, health status, children and education, unemployment and poverty, employment and income generating history of household members, credit risk, general overview of the EPWP project, EPWP employment, skill and training profile, and personal/household benefit from EPWP.

The study targeted 400 EPWP beneficiaries and the actual realised sample was 376 EPWP current and past beneficiaries from 15 EPWP projects in 4 KZN districts. The study also targeted 100 non-beneficiaries for comparisons.

The data set contains 476 cases and 1087 variables.

South African Election Satisfaction Survey (ESS) 1999: Voters - All provinces

This data set contains responses of South African legible voters in the 1999 national and provincial assembly elections aged 18 years and older.

All 214 selected voting stations were visited on election day. The number of voters interviewed was 11 140 and the data set contains 28 variables.

The questionnaire questions included the distance traveled to the voting station, means of transport utilised, time spent in the voting queue, perception of IEC officials' competence, and perception of the freeness and fairness of the election.

This data set contains responses of South African legible voters in the 2000 local government elections aged 18 years and older.

All 200 selected voting stations were visited on election day. The number of voters interviewed was 11 315 and the data set contains 30 variables.

The questionnaire questions included the distance traveled to the voting station, means of transport utilised, time spent in the voting queue, perception of IEC officials' competence, and perception of the freeness and fairness of the election.
