Adverse event reporting in drug resistant tuberculosis facilities in South Africa (AEDR-TB) 2019: Drug resistant Tuberculosis facilities - All provinces

The data set contains 264 variables and 164 responses were received. The respondents were individuals working at DR-TB treatment facilities in South Africa.

The denominator could not be determined as some staff were shift workers or on leave during the visits to the DR-TB facilities. The estimated coverage of all staff exceeded 80%.

The South African Agricultural Business Innovation Survey describes the patterns of innovation in South African agribusinesses from 2016 to 2018, analysed at an aggregate level for all agribusinesses, and compares trends across three major sub-sectors: agriculture (including crop, animal, and mixed farming), forestry, and fisheries.

Of the targeted businesses of 1 326, 303 responses (22%) were realised.

There are 132 variables and 303 cases in the data set.

A Blue Economy for Women's Economic Empowerment (BEWEE), 2018-19

Interviews with experts on women's economic empowerment and the blue economy in the Indian Ocean Rim were conducted. Although women have played an important economic role in the Indian Ocean for generations, they face a multitude of barriers to full economic inclusion in the Indian Ocean's Blue Economy. This qualitative dataset focuses on the Blue Economy as a vehicle for women’s economic empowerment.

The initial target interviews were 10 but 8 interviews were conducted. The realisation rate is therefore 80%.

Investigating barriers and facilitators to healthy behaviours among adolescents receiving mental health care (BFMHC) 2014 - Western Cape

The data set consists of 32 transcripts of interviews with parents or guardians and 4 transcriptions of focus group discussions with the adolescents receiving mental health care.

Using CHAMP to prevent youth HIV risk in South Africa. Collaborative HIV/AIDS and Mental Health Project (CHAMP) 2003-06: Adult measures - KwaZulu-Natal

The adult data set includes the responses of 478 adolescents in families of which the responses have been recorded of manual-based sessions done on groups of families with pre-adolescent children (9-11 years) and evaluated using a treatment versus no treatment repeated-measures design. Each session of the manual covers ten topics that include children's rights and responsibilities; parental styles; communication; puberty; hard to talk about issues; risky environmental influences; understanding HIV/AIDS; dealing with stigma; surviving loss and bereavement; developing support networks. The effect of the intervention was measured along all of these dimensions. This data set contains the responses of both the pre-test and the post-test. The responses of the pre- and post-test were merged into one data set.

Randomized controlled trial of a couples-based intervention to increase testing for HIV among heterosexual couples (CIC) 2012-14 in Vulindlela, South Africa

This dataset contains the responses of couples who participated in the randomised controlled trial of a Couples-based intervention study.

The questionnaire includes measurement of relationship domains such as satisfaction and communication, and measures pertaining to HIV and reproductive health (e.g., fertility intentions, HIV knowledge and risk perception, and sexual behaviour) and demographics.

The data contains 438 variables and 350 cases.

Constitutional Justice Project: Assessment of the impact of decisions of the South African Constitutional Court and the Supreme Court of Appeal on the transformation of society (CJP) 2013-15

Seventy qualitative interviews, involving 114 persons, were conducted with litigants of landmark socio-economic rights cases and other key role-players, including members of NGOs and Public Interest Litigation (PIL) firms. The aim was to ascertain experiences with regard to the socio-economic rights cases, including the cost and time taken to finalise these cases. In the fieldwork phase of the project, researchers canvassed the perspectives of a broad spectrum of stakeholders and social actors relevant to this assessment.
