The adult and youth data of the SABSSM 2002 study cover information from adults and youths 15 years and older on topics ranging from biographical information, media and communication, male circumcision, marital status and marriage practice, partner and partner characteristics, sexual behaviour and practices, voluntary counseling and testing (VCT), sexual orientation, interpersonal communication, practices around widowhood, knowledge and perceptions of HIV and AIDS, stigma, hospitalisation and health status.

The data set consists of 643 variables and 9788 cases.

The guardian data of the SABSSM 2002 study cover information from the parents or care givers of children 2-11 years on matters ranging from biographical information of the child and parent/guardian, the child's home environment, care and protection, sources of information on HIV and AIDS, media impact and the health status of the child.

The data set contains 380 variables and 2732 cases.

The data sets included in the SAGE 2007-08 study comprised household survey data, household members survey data and individual survey data.

396 of 600 targeted EAs (66%) were realised.

South African National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (SANHANES-1) 2011-12 Impact assessment (SANHANES-1IMPACT), 2017: Interviews

As part of the assessment of the impact of findings of the South African National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (SANHANES-1) 2011-12 in respect only of Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs), in-depth interviews with relevant parties. The evaluation consisted of five output, outcome and impact categories, i.e. knowledge, benefits to future research and research use, benefits from informing policy and product development, health and health sector benefits, and broader social and economic benefits.

The data set contains a summary of 14 interviews conducted with participants ranging from a senior medical researcher to a PHD student.

The realised respondent interviews comprised 3 South African medical academic researchers; 4 members of the SANHANES-1 research team; 5 government officials (Department of Health and Treasury); 1 PhD student; and 1 foreign researcher. Three HSRC communications staff provided information about media and social media outputs. Despite several attempts, 2 other key high-profile stakeholders could not be interviewed.

South African Social Attitudes Survey (SASAS) 2018: Questionnaire 1 - All provinces

Topics covered in the questionnaire are: democracy and governance, national identity and pride, intergroup relations, immigrant related attitudes and behaviour, education, moral issues, fatherhood, personal wellbeing index, poverty, taxation, crime and safety, batho pele, voting, respondent characteristics, household characteristics, personal and household income.

Of the targeted population of 3500, 2885 responses (82.4%) was realized.

The data set for dissemination contains 2885 cases and 484 variables.
