This data set contains household information about the people who usually live at the visiting point and slept there the previous night as per the time of the interview. Information about their age, sex, marital status, race, language spoken, deaths in the household, education status, main source of drinking water, energy for cooking and type of toilet facility and socio-economic status information is also included in the visiting point data set.

The data set contains 312 variables and 15000 cases.

The data set contains 549 variables and 5344 cases.

The Adult data set contains information on: biographical data, media, communication and norms, knowledge and perceptions of HIV/AIDS, male circumcision, sexual debut, partners and partner characteristics, condoms, vulnerability, HIV testing, alcohol and substance use, general perceptions about government, health and violence in the community.

The data set contains 879 variables and 30563 cases.

This data set contains responses from individuals who are 12 to 14 years old who self-reported on the indicators related to HIV/AIDS behaviour and testing. The respondents' biographical data, school attendance, questions on media, communication and norms, knowledge and perceptions of HIV and AIDS, home environment, care and protection at school, sexual debut, attitudes and knowledge towards sexual roles, health questions, male circumcision, crime and social norms were included.

The data set contains 227 variables and 2273 cases.

Subsequent to the dissemination of version 1 of the Child 12-14 data set the skip patterns for the data set were corrected and is disseminated as Version 2.

South African National HIV Prevalence, HIV Incidence, Behaviour and Communication Survey (SABSSM) 2012: Guardian 0-11 years - All provinces

The data set contains the data of the parents or guardians of children aged 0 to 11 years. Some of the questions included were the child's biographical data, health status and health questions, male circumcision, education of the child on life issues, infant and child feeding practices as well as school attendance and immunisation records.

The data set contains 275 variables and 9667 cases.

This data file contains household information about the people who usually lived in the household and slept there the previous night as per the time of the interview. Demographic variables were age, sex, marital status, race, language spoken, education status, main source of drinking water, energy for cooking, type of toilet facility. The data set contains 545 variables and 14919 cases.

South African National HIV Prevalence, HIV Incidence, Behaviour and Communication Survey (SABSSM) 2017: Combined - All provinces

In the combined data set three individual data sets were merged; parents/guardians for children to 11 years, children 12 to 14 years, youths and adults 15 years and older.

The data set has modules that contain information on biographical data, orphan status, school attendance, media, communication and norms, knowledge, attitudes, beliefs and values about HIV/AIDS, sexual history, sexually transmitted infections, delivery and care details, male circumcision, HIV testing and risk perception, drug and alcohol use, health status, and violence in relationships. The datasets also contains biological markers such as HIV status, exposure to ARVs, viral load suppression and HIV drug resistance.

The data set contains 1 090 variables and 66 615 cases.

South African Democracy Expert Survey (SADES) 2021

The data set measures the views of experts on South African democracy drawing from the relevant indicators of the Varieties of Democracy (V- Dem) project, which include accountability, civil and political liberties, elections and campaigns, the right to franchise, separation of powers, voter participation, civic education, equality before the law, ethical political elite behaviour and political tolerance.

Of the targeted population of 159, 51 responses (32%) were realised.

The data set contains 57 variables and 51 cases.

Study on Global Ageing and Adult Health (SAGE) 2007-08 Wave 1 - All provinces in South Africa

The data sets included in the SAGE 2007-08 study comprised household survey data, household members survey data and individual survey data.

396 of 600 targeted EAs (66%) were realised.

South African National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (SANHANES-1) 2011-12: Adult - All provinces

The data set for dissemination contains 728 variables and 17 926 cases of respondents aged 15 years and older who participated in the SANHANES-1 Adult Questionnaire.

The questionnaire covers the following sections: geographic information, biographic details of the respondent, non-communicable diseases, tuberculosis, nutrition, perceptions of respondent's general and mental health, as well as health care utilisation.

South African National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (SANHANES-1) 2011-12: Adult clinical examination - All provinces

The data set for dissemination contains 23 variables and 5615 cases of respondents aged 15 and older who participated in the SANHANES-1 Adult clinical examination, with a specific focus on information relating to blood pressure, cholesterol and blood sugar levels.

South African National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (SANHANES-1) 2011-12: Adult physical examination - All provinces

The data set for dissemination contains 396 variables and 17 938 cases of respondents aged 15 and older who participated in the SANHANES-1 Adult Physical Examination. Of the total number of cases, 7 340 individuals volunteered to undergo the physical examination.

Topics covered in the physical examination form are: general patient history, detailed patient history, systematic clinical examination, blood pressure and pulse rate, step fitness test, and anthropometry.
